The following is a list of the Department of Humanities course offerings for the Fall/Winter 2017 term. Please note: different sections (A, B, M, etc.) are not indicated in the list below; they are specified in the expanded course descriptions.

Enrollment Information

- Our General Education courses advance critical skills in reading, research, and writing from an interdisciplinary humanities perspective. Some spaces are reserved for new, first-year York University students. Any remaining reserved spaces are released automatically by the online enrollment system by August 2.

- These courses present an unusual breadth of topics, chronology and geographical focus and bring together diverse scholarly expertise to create a distinctive, innovative first-year experience. Some spaces are reserved for new, first-year York University students. Any remaining reserved spaces are released automatically by the online enrolment system by August 2.

- These courses continue to treat a diverse range of cultures and academic issues. Humanities majors/minors are required to take AP/HUMA 2600 6.0 Humanities for a Global Age, and some spaces are reserved for majors/minors in all other 2000 level courses. The online enrollment system will release any remaining reserved spaces on April 2 (Summer Session) and July 2 (FW Session).

- These courses allow students to engage in more in-depth study of particular areas of interest. They are led by a single course director with a maximum enrollment of 30 students. Some spaces are reserved for Humanities majors/minors. The online enrollment system will release any remaining reserved spaces on April 2 (Summer Session) and July 2 (FW Session).

- These courses allow students to work in great depth on a closely defined historical period or theme, allowing them to develop their skills as interdisciplinary academics at an advanced level. All spaces are reserved for Humanities majors/minors.
